WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NUMBER PORTABILITY
(moving your existing telephone number to VoIP)
- Number portability refers to the process required for new VoIP customers to keep
their existing telephone number.
- Number portability is available only in selected areas (mainly metropolitan areas of
larger centers). RevolutionIP will be able to provide more information in these areas.
- Even if our preliminary inquiry into the number portability availability returns a
positive result, due to technical limitations, there is no guarantee that a number can
indeed be ported.
- This process is subject to a one time portability fee of $15. This fee is charged for
each requested number and is non-refundable.
- Important: If you requested your number to be ported, please DO NOT cancel your
existing circuit until your number has been moved to VoIP. For example, if you
cancel your Bell telephone line before your phone number is moved, you will lose
that number.
- Important: It is your responsibility to assure that your existing telephone service has
been paid in full. Numbers associated with unpaid services (i.e. unpaid Bell telephone
bill) may not be ported and those numbers could be lost.
- If you have requested your telephone number to be ported you will first be issued a
temporary telephone number on your VoIP telephone line. Your existing number will
be ported within 20 business days (if available). During this time, your existing
service, as well as your new VoIP services will remain ACTIVE and chargeable. If you
wish to wait for your number to be ported before activating your new VoIP services,
please call our staff immediately after placing your order.
