KELCOM donates $6,200
to Save the Children for
Haitian earthquake relief
March 16, 2010. On February 25, 2010, KELCOM has donated $6,200 to Save the Children in order to go towards Haitian earthquake relief. The donations consist of both employee and corporate donations. The $6,200 will be matched by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) which brings the donation total to $12,400.
One of the reasons why Save the Children was chosen as the charitable organization of choice is because Lauren Snyder-Gault, a long time employee of KELCOM and Security ONE (a KELCOM company), is also a member of the Save the Children’s National Board of Directors.
As of February 22, 2010, Save the Children had reached over 506,000 people in Haiti. Save the Children continues daily tankering of clean drinking water, expanding capacity to reach 62,400 people each day with 312 m3 of water. To date, they have built 188 emergency latrines benefitting 9,400 people, constructed 115 emergency bathing areas benefitting 11,500 people and erected emergency water storage points (tanks/bladders) which hold 195 m3 of water.
